Computers And Cars
Who will get computers in fast cars sooner, the car companies or the fast car drivers?
Next on the list is probably the slickest "Mac mini in a car" setup I have seen to date. As if one Mac mini feeding two screens in a 2006 Infiniti M45 Sport isn’t enough, the creator is also using a Palm Treo 650 and Salling Clicker to run the setup, as well as Rsync X and an AirPort network to keep the mini’s library in tune with a PowerMac G5 in the house.

The Passing Of A Great Man
A father or grandfather teaching a son or grandson to drive is a great memory.Memories such as the times I would wait outside his back gate at 4 o’clock in the morning to accompany him to the Cardiff meat markets (he was a butcher). Chasing pigs’ eyes around the counter tops in his shop (gross, I know) as they evaded my grasp. Cutting my finger on a paring knife in his shop as I played with the implements he had told me not to. Him giving me my first driving experience at about age 11 in a mini with no brakes in a muddy field on a steep slope. The tales of his childhood, of the antics of his youth and of his experiences in the RAF. These are memories that will never leave me, memories that bring a smile to my soul.

Road Rage
A good fast car driver is not an angry fast car driver.
If you are an angry aggressive driver changes are you think you are a pretty good driver and the fault lies with other drivers. Aggressive driving includes honking the horn, flashing your headlights rolling down your window at yelling, obscene gestures, and swearing. The typical aggressive driver is young, male, extrovert, highly stressed, competitive, and impatient. Aggressive drivers will run more red lights, speed, and get into more accidents.

Hatred Against Chavez
No fast cars in Caracas.
Click through for more traffic jam pictures. However, there is a downside to this boom in car sales. And that is all these cars have to go some where and right now they are clogging up practically every road and highway in Venezuela. On the intercity highways traffic is oftent backed up for miles behind toll booths. The Francisco Farjardo highway, the main east-west expressway in Caracas which is 5 lanes wide at points often seems more like a parking lot than an expressway. And city streets of Barquisimeto and Caracas are so choked with cars and busses it often takes a half hour just to go a dozen blocks. Just to give you an idea here are some pictures of what I am talking about:

Winter Tires!
New tires seem like a good investment for the fast car on ice.
Please note that I have a Subaru. I love it. I have very bald tires, but I can take off on sheer ice, corner in snow, and control my car in most conditions just fine. I can’t, however, stop very well … or at all … in those conditions. As I consider stopping to be one of the best parts of the driving experience, I decided to remedy the situation. Also, I drive in the mountains quite a bit - those are usually snow covered roads, at the edge of which is a few hundred foot drop, at the bottom of which are usually sharks with lazer beams attached to the heads, or polar bears, or martians with science labs I’d rather not think about.
That’s what I’m talking about

Welcome To California
Land of high car insurance.
Well, I was offered the job in California. I\’m not precisely sure how to handle the moving part. I plan on being in Phoenix on the weekends, so do I keep Phoenix as my permanent address, or do I fully move to California? If I fully move, I have to register my vehicle in California which everybody knows is expensive. Also, my car insurance would probably be higher if I am registered in California. How much higher? I don’t know. Do I keep an apartment here in Arizona, or not? Do I fly back and forth, or drive? Am I wearing navy or black? There are a lot of questions to answer.

Subaru Re-signs Sarrazin
Good for Subaru fast cars!
I'm neither here nor there about Sarrazin, and I probably would have liked to see more of Atkinson but I can agree with Suby keeping a combination seat to help maximize car development and suface specialties.

Can't Anyone Honk
The problems with an advertising campaign in Singapore.
Seeing the traffic light had turned green, I screamed ‘YES!’ before speeding off like I’m driving some Formula One race car, looking back from time to time to make sure that taxi driver didn’t come chasing after me.

Alumni Plates
The school that has the most fast cars?
You’re on the road one day with two cars in front of you, (1) a piece-of-shit car with “UC Berkeley Alumni” license plate frame, and (2) a nice luxury car with a “Stanford U. Alumni” license plate frame. Which school are you going to choose now?!

Getting My First License
Seems like you need a degree just to understand how to get a drivers license.
I might write about the graduated licensing system. In Ontario, there's three steps to getting your driver's license. You get your G1 when you're 16 by passing a written test. If you get it, you can drive, but you can't go on a freeway where the speed limit is over 8o km/hour, and you have to have a licensed adult with at least four years of driving experience in the passenger seat with you whenever you drive. After a year of having your G1 (8 months if you take driver's ed), you can take a road test, and if you pass that, you get your G2, which means you can drive unaccompanied, on any of the roads in Ontario. I think then you have to take another road test when you're 18, and if you pass that, that gives you your G, and you are officially a fully licensed driver. Anyway, there's been some rumours flying around that they're going to change the laws again so that you have to be 18 to get your G2. I could write a letter protesting that.

World's Greatest Radar Detector
If you drive a fast car, you're likely to need a V1 Radar DetectorIsn’t it ironic – I just got my V1 delivered today and I happen across this article on Gizmodo. I’ve owned them in the past and there is no substitute. Period.

Honda Made My New Car
During the Chicago Auto Show this year Honda promised to give us this new Si at under $20K. We’ll see if they keept that promise. Sporting a 197HP, 8K redline engine with a 6 speed tranny and LSD… I’ve been looking at this car for a while, and I dont know how else to say it but wow. If indeed we see a price tag of 20k or under. This is basicly a new RSX type S, granted with a few poneys less but we’ve gained LSD.

Station Wagons: The New SUV?
Maybe the new fast cars will be the smaller cousin of the SUV: the station wagon.
I think wagons could be making a comeback. The stigma behind them is fading (not many old 60’s and 70’s wagons still on the road), and the macho appeal of the SUV is being overshadowed by guilt of owning one. But the need for hauling a lot of people or stuff isn’t going away.
