OverHaulin'

fast cars overhaulin tlc Good post on the TLC program called Overhaulin' where old fast cars come back to life.
The concept of the show is that a needy car, usually a Hot Rodable machine, is stolen and the owner pranked until the car is reborn in a week. An AP story I saw on the show said 160 vehicles have been done so far.

Hi, My Name is Brian I am writing this letter in hopes that you would consider my wifes 1989 Ford Bronco 4x4 for Overhaulin'. When I met my wife she was working 4 jobs supporting her family and she was the only one without a vehicle, did I mention she was also going to her local Junior college. Melanie soon had to drop out of scholl due to finacial reasons and her limited time. She was an EMT at 2 jobs , A dispatcher for law, fire , EMS,& 911 , and her last job at that time was as a phlebotomist at the local hospital.
Melanie almost worked herself to death, I asked her to marry me and cut out some of her jobs, which she did and shortly after she became pregnant. We had a 1970 Mach One That was her real love we were trying to rebuild but had to sell because of the baby on the way. With the money, I bought her the Bronco which was her Uncles who was Dying of cancer He and Melanie were very close and she had been trying to buy the Bronco for years but he just could not let go of it. Melanie now 10 years later is not able to drive her truck it has 300,000 miles and it can get her down the road for a short ride but thats about it I cannot afford to rebuild for her because she has recently become disabled and hasd not been able to work since October of 2007 she has rheuamatoid arthritis, fibromyalgia, and severe migraines. I really would love to be able to have this done for her, she is a country girl that has always worked hard, fished, hunted, and loves hot rods and 4x4's, she is the biggest University of Alabama fan and a hardcore Dale Earnhardt JR fan. She drives a 2001 Ford Mustang GT with her license plate reading RDNKWMN as her daily driver but if she had her pick it would be the Bronco. Your consideration would mean the world to her . Thank you for your time. Brian Jett

I have a dad that is the best dad in the world. Everything he does he does for someone else. My dad is a pastor of a church, a retired kansas highway patrol officer, and a mail carrier. My father just had a car accident and broke his ankle, he also has a bad blood sugar problem. The only thing my dad ever wanted was to help people, but the only thing he wanted for himself was to get his 62 chevy up and running. He has been trying to work on it for 15 years, but something always came up all I want is to make my dad's dream come true

Hi my name is Norma

My husband has a 1988 camaro which he has had for many years now which was his full intention of fixing it up and passing it down to my older son. After purchasing the vehicle we have come to realize in the last couple years that my son will not be able to drive. All 3 of my boys are with cnib they are visually impaired but we have been informed neither one of them will drive when they get older. It is my older son who does not want to part with the camaro he just loves it so much. Unfortunately we are not able to fix it up at this time because of the money situation my husband works full time and i part time at a doctors office. We have 4 children in total the 3 boys and 1 girl whom we have had in our care since she was 10months and have now adopted. This would be a dream come true if i could have this done for my husband and my boys. Just to see there face would be such joy! If possible please consider doing this if not i understand you get a lot of requests. Take care and thanks for taking the time to read.

If you come to the Charleston, SC area I would love you to consider my husbands old truck for your show! We have 2 small kids and I am a full-time student, work part-time and always crazy:-) but my husband puts up with all of it. He is 9 years older than me and he sacrificed his savings to help me go back to school to become a Respiratory Care Practitioner. He works so hard and pays all the bills and he has this old Ford truck that he bought I think it is an 86. He loves old trucks and he wanted to restore it. He is an old soul and I know how much he would love to drive that truck every day. It runs...barely and about once a week he will crank it up and drive around the block. He has sacrificed so much for our family and I would love to give him something back that would really mean something to him and that he can pass down to the boys which he so dearly wants to do. Please consider us! Thank you and we LOVE your show!!!

He has a good hart but he can’t afford to get more parts for his truck anymore some times here and there but it will not be any time soon when it will run good with any problems.

Hi. I heard 'Overhaulin' was going national. If you get to boston, we just got a 91 chevy van w/handicap ramp for my 4 yr. old Godchild. It runs but needs cosmetic work mostly. Her mom is a hard worker who takes care of her & her mother who had a stoke & is in a wheelchair. Would you consider this vehicle? Its a bit different than the other great cars you've done. Thanks.

Hi,
I have a 91 Infiniti M30 conv that I bought as a project 2 yrs ago. Unfortunately, I losted my job after buying the car and never got the time to restore it. I am working now but with family it is hard to get the time and money to work on the car. I do drive it everyday to work. It really is a great car that I've grown attached too. I drive it to work every day. Technically it wouldn't take much to restore (e.g new conv top, body/paint, interior touch-up). It would be a dream come true if your show could help me on this one.

Thanks for at least reading my comments.

We have three little girls and a 95 purple ford f150. Guess who comes first? My husband is a very hard working 32 year old. I'm a stay at home mom. No matter how hard he works he can't get ahead. I feel really bad for not helping. But I'm lucky that he doesn't fight it. He really deserves something. I think the concept of your show is great. I also know that driving this PURPLE truck around for the last couple years have been hard.
Thanks, Anjannette

He had big plays for it, but it never happen. Now it sits in the front yard under a tarp. The truck needs a lot of work. Everyday for the past couple of years he said he was going to have it looking all hooked up, but his dreams for it never happened. Since he couldn't get up all the money to get it fix. He's a hard worker but doesn't have the money to put into it anymore. I am his brother writing to you to please help him. I a disabled veteran and I served in Iraq. My brother is a good man but falls short of his dreams a time or to. This is one time I wish this dream could be fore filled. It would be the best thing to ever happen in his life. Thank you.

Ready for a challenge on your show? How about a rebuild of a 1970 Chevy Caprice? My husband, Harry Baker, is an "old geezer" who deserves a surprise and some encouragement at this time in his life. He has survived World War II, Raised 4 daughters, worked hard and married me (a young thing age 51 who has given much to the community despite health challenges). Let's celebrate age and wisdom by giving this man a good time and an update to his 1970 Chevy. Please contact me; Sarah Tomassetti-Baker and add this surprise to your show.

I am writing in hopes that you might be able to over haul my son's truck. The truck belonged to my brother who was buried two days after my son arrived in Saudi Arabia. He did not know of his uncle's death until he called me and I had to break the news to him. He begged his dad to please save the truck for him. My husband saved the truck for our son until he was discharged from thhe Marine Corps. He is now an inactive Marine Reservist. He has been trying to fix the truck for almost 2&1/2 years now. He has had trouble holding down a job since his release and every time he does save a little money something else comes up and he has to put the truck on hold again. While with a clean up crew for FEMA after Katrina a young man driving his grandmother's car fell asleep and put more dents in the truck. Iwould love to see him to be able to drive his uncle's truck without fear that it will fall apart. The only thing that I would like to keep with the truck is the motor. He is very proud of the racing motor that his uncle put in it. He does not drive it hard and he does not race it. It is just the motor that his uncle put in and the fact that it is worth more than the truck. There is no way into talking him into getting rid of the truck. I have pictures and would like to e-mail them to you. He had to leave the truck with his dad and me while he went to Florida to get a job . The job does not pay enough to fix the truck . He barely makes enough to pay his smallest bills. Please help over haul my son's truck. Please help a Marine to save the truck that was his Uncle's that as I said was buried two days after my son landed in Saudi. Please help Sincerely yours Carol LaGrange (Former Marine). PS My husband and I would love to do it but we are on Socia Security Disability. There is no way that we can help. Thank You PSS The truck is 1970 Chevy .

My hubby and I watch the show quite frequently and he just sits and dreams of getting his '60 Chevy pickup (showroom) restored.
He and i have done what we're capable of doing, it looks good but not "overhauled" quality. we did what we could on our budget. My husbond is disabled and cannot crawl around under the "Wild Thing" anymore, and I know he 'd be so proud to see hid "baby" looking television fine. We always enjoyed cruisin' but with no power steering it's just a chore anymore to take it out. Please consider "overhaulin' for a very proud Vietnam Vet and give him some "truck passion" back. Thank you , Jan Medley

my buddy Mike's 1984(?) Ford Ranger 4x4 could use an overhaulin'. its engine blew out on our way back from the fishing trip a couple of years ago and has since been sitting in the driveway collecting dust, cobwebs and rust. it was a great truck, took us fishing where-ever we wanted to go.

Mike's birthday is coming up in August and getting his truck back up and running and looking like new would make a great present!

I wish I could get a hold of the people for overhaulin for my friend Dave he has a 55 pontiac that he has had for over 20 years and because of some hard times he has not been able to finish his project he has just started to collect social security and will probably will never see this thing get done.

My husband has had his 57 Chevy Belair for 15 years and had planned doing many things with it. Since his motorcycle accident in 1993, our bills and have kept his dreams away from doing anything with the car. Where can I go to help his dream come true. He has seen some programs on TV and has been impressed. Any help will be appreciated, Thank you, Sandy Arias

Chuck,

Pimp My Ride is a totally different concept. You won't see any pimped rides going over the Barrett-Jackson stage, but you may see some of the cars that have had the OverHaulin' treatment. I suppose the increased value or the taxes due cause the owners to sell them.

I have a second post, "OverHaulin'", where I go on a bit more about my thoughts with my "Parts Bin Special" Thunderbird.

I have a post coming up on the Holden.

Posted by: PCD at March 2, 2006 09:48 AM

sort of like pimp my ride only that you get to scare the owner first before he sees his needy car again? lol.
