Ford strikes back with the Shelby GT500
fast car.
Ford sent a fairly emphatic message to GM and Chrysler on Monday as it announced that the 2007 Ford Shelby GT500 officially produces 500 horsepower and 480 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers put the new Shelby on the same playing field as the Corvette Z06 and Dodge Viper, and set the stage for the inevitable King of the Hill comparison tests from all the big magazines later this summer.
